ORGANIZATIONAL INSIGHT

Qualitative research inside organizations, not just about their markets

The same depth interviewing, moderation, and synthesis skills that reveal what consumers think can reveal what employees experience, what talent prospects value, and how workforces respond to transformation. Assembled applies a decade of fieldwork discipline to questions that sit inside your organization rather than outside it.

Assembled is a Singapore market research agency founded in 2016. Managing Director Felicia Hu has personally moderated more than 600 research projects across consumer goods, financial services, healthcare, and technology. Published in MRS Research Live and ESOMAR Research World, and quoted in the South China Morning Post, Felicia leads all organizational insight engagements directly. With a 100,000-member proprietary panel and bilingual moderation in English and Mandarin, Assembled brings the same rigour to employee interviews and workforce diagnostics that it brings to consumer research.

Organizations invest heavily in understanding their customers. They commission focus groups, run NPS surveys, build customer journey maps. The same organizations often know remarkably little about their own people. Employee engagement scores tell you satisfaction is at 72%. They cannot tell you why three senior engineers left in the same quarter, what your employer brand actually means to a mid-career Malay professional, or whether your workforce will embrace AI tools or quietly resist them.

Organizational Insight is Assembled's practice for applying qualitative research methods inside companies. We conduct depth interviews with employees, facilitate focus groups across workforce segments, and synthesize findings into reports that help leadership teams make decisions about talent, culture, and transformation. The methodology is identical to our consumer research. The questions point inward.

Three service areas where qualitative research solves organizational problems

Employee Value Proposition Research

Depth interviews and focus groups with employees across levels, tenure, function, and demographic segment. The output is an EVP Architecture Report mapping what your people value, how your employer brand is perceived, and where gaps sit relative to talent competitors. Eligible for Enterprise Development Grant co-funding at 50%.

AI Transformation Research

Workforce readiness assessments and customer acceptance testing for companies adopting AI. Interview employees about workflow disruption, map resistance and skill gaps, test how customers respond to AI-mediated interactions. Eligible for the SkillsFuture Workforce Development Grant at 70% co-funding for SMEs.

Customer Due Diligence Research

Structured interview programs for private equity firms, family offices, and corporate acquirers validating investment theses. 20-50 customer depth interviews with NPS scoring, churn risk flags, and competitive vulnerability mapping. Delivered in 3-5 weeks on PE timelines.

Surveys measure. Interviews explain.

Most organizational research tools, whether engagement platforms from Mercer, assessment instruments from Korn Ferry, or sentiment dashboards from Culture Amp, are quantitative at their core. They produce scores, benchmarks, and heat maps. They answer "what percentage" and "how much." They struggle with "why" and "what does this feel like."

Qualitative methods go where surveys cannot. A 45-minute depth interview with a departing engineer surfaces the three compounding frustrations that no exit survey captures. A focus group with recent hires reveals the gap between the employer brand they were sold and the reality they found.

Senior-led moderation

Felicia leads every engagement directly. Employee and executive interviews require the same trust-building skills as healthcare patient research or financial services interviews.

Cross-cultural fluency

Singapore's multicultural workforce means an EVP focus group with Malay participants operates differently from one with PRC transplants on employment passes. Bilingual moderation in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, and Cantonese.

Grant-enabled pricing

Most organizational research qualifies for government co-funding. EDG covers 50% of EVP research. WDG JR+ covers 70% of AI workforce diagnostics for SMEs. The agency that helps you navigate the grant earns the brief.

About organizational insight research

How is organizational research different from your consumer research?
The methodology is the same. Depth interviews, focus groups, qualitative synthesis. What changes is the respondent (employees, candidates, investors instead of consumers), the buyer (HR, C-suite, PE firms instead of marketing teams), and the output (EVP architectures, workforce readiness reports, customer DD reports instead of brand perception studies).
Can organizational research be funded by government grants?
Most organizational research qualifies for Singapore government co-funding. EVP research fits under EDG's "Strategic Brand and Marketing Development" or "Human Capital Development" pillars at 50% support. AI workforce diagnostics qualify for the SkillsFuture Workforce Development Grant (WDG JR+) at up to 70% for SMEs, capped at SGD 150,000 per enterprise. Market research and fieldwork professionals are explicitly exempt from the TR 43/SS 680 consultant certification requirement under EDG.
Do you work with management consultancies on these projects?
Assembled partners with certified management consultancies who handle the strategy and transformation layer while Assembled handles the qualitative research and fieldwork. This partnership model is effective for grant-funded projects where the lead consultant needs TR 43 certification.
What does a typical engagement timeline look like?
EVP research programs typically run 6-8 weeks. AI workforce readiness assessments take 4-6 weeks. Customer due diligence research operates on compressed PE timelines of 3-5 weeks. All timelines include respondent recruitment, fieldwork, analysis, and report delivery. For more on our process, see our expertise page.
How do you handle confidentiality for employee research?
All organizational research operates under strict confidentiality. Employee respondents are assured of anonymity. Individual responses are never attributed to named individuals. Findings are reported in aggregate by segment. We sign NDAs with every client and follow ESOMAR ethical standards for all research.
What industries do you serve for organizational insight?
Assembled serves every industry we cover in consumer research. Financial services firms commissioning EVP research, healthcare providers conducting workforce readiness assessments, technology companies testing AI adoption, and PE firms across all sectors needing customer due diligence.

Understanding your organization starts with listening to the people inside it

Whether you need EVP research to fix retention, AI readiness assessment before a transformation, or customer due diligence for an investment, the first step is the same. Tell us what you need to understand.
